The journey towards seeking knowledge of the Islamic sciences begins at your local community at ICF. The ICF Uswah Seminary offers a 2 year comprehensive program, consisting of part-time classes focused in the areas of Hadith, Qur’an, History, Aqeedah, Usul, Fiqh, and Tazkiyah. Our mission is to provide a professional learning environment for these sacred sciences in educating our college students, young professionals, and adults learners.

Once you embark in this journey of seeking sacred knowledge, your desire to learn more will not cease.

Course Description: A dual-course learning experience designed to strengthen both the mind and heart of a believer.

• “NAF 101: Fiqh of Nafs & Tazkiyah” (Imam Salah Mahmoud) - Introduces students to a transformative journey of understanding the inner self—exploring the nature of the nafs, purifying the heart, and walking the path of ihsan with purpose and clarity. The course provides practical tools for spiritual growth, emotional balance, and self-discipline through Qur’anic guidance and Prophetic teachings.

• “FIQH 101: Fiqh of Worship” (Mufti Sajid Ali) - Introduces students to a foundational study of the fiqh of purification and fasting. This course simplifies essential rulings related to tahārah, cleanliness, and ‘ibādah, ensuring students gain confidence in both understanding and practicing the core acts of worship.

Shaykh Salah completed hifdh of the Holy Qur’an at the age of 10. He earned his B.A. in Islamic Studies from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt and continued his education to obtain various valuable Ijazaat in Qur’an. Previously, Shaykh Salah has served as an Imam in both Jamaica Muslim Center and The Muslim American Society of Queens in New York City. Prior to joining to ICF, he was the head of the Islamic Studies & Qur’an Department at Brighter Horizons Academy. Shaykh Salah also serves as a visiting Imam at various Masajid in Dallas, TX.

Instructor

Mufti Sajid Ali is a native of Chicago, where he initiated his formal Islamic studies at the Institute of Islamic Education in Elgin, Illinois. After completing his ‘Alim course in 2007, Mufti Sajid briefly pursued higher secular education for a year before his zeal for jurisprudence led him half way across the world in Camperdown, South Africa, where he enrolled at Madrasah In’aamiyyah to specialize in the field of issuing legal verdicts (iftaa) under the expert in Hanafi fiqh, Mufti Ebrahim Desai (may Allah lengthen his life). He successfully completed his training in 2010 and received authorization (ijazah) in issuing fatwas (legal verdicts).
